Project 1: Help for fees for 2nd PUC to Engineering

We were able to help Master Prajwal GS for his fee for 2nd year PUC by paying Rs 9,000/- to Cauvery Composite PU College, Sahakaranagar. Master Prajwal is the only son of Sri GK Surya Prakash, an auto rickshaw driver who started losing his vision and was forced to stop driving auto rickshaw. This necessitated Prajwal to take up a part time job in the evenings at a pani puri stall and support the family and for his father’s medical treatment making it difficult for paying the College fee for 2nd year PUC admission. Shraddha Foundation had its first activity bymaking a payment of Rs 9,000/- on 24.5.2011 for his fee (against total needed of Rs 15,000/- as he managed the balance from other sources.) Later an additional amount of Rs 3,000/- was paid for purchasing text books needed for the year. He has now appeared for his 2nd PUC Exams in 2012 and result awaited. He desires to go for Engg if he gets through CET.

When he finished his PUC with 60.33%, he wrote his CET where his ranking was 62245, he got a seat for Mechanical Engineering at Vijaya Vittala Institute of Technology, Hennur-Bagalur Road, Bangalore 77. On 26th July 2012, we paid Rs 41,590/- as CET Fee and College Fee of Rs 17,500/-for the first year. Meanwhile his father passed away following a kidney ailment after beginning on dialysis which was again a financial burden.

We paid Rs 41,590/- to the College for his second year fee on 6th Aug 2013. In addition we were able to guide him to Lions Club of Bangalore Sanjaynagar through which he got a scholarship of Rs 10,000/- Having been supporting him, we hope to continue to help him till he completes Engineering.

2. Premodaya

Lourdes Convent, St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral Compound
Cleveland Town, Bangalore 560 005
Tel 080- 25571437

Situated in the large Compound of St Francis Xavier Church Compound, is a small home for Nuns within which 15 girl children whose parent/s are in prison are protected from anti social elements and given education upto Std 10 (SSLC) after which they have to fend for themselves outside this premises with help of family members if they have or support from the Rev Srs. Children have been there for long periods and passed SSLC Exams which would not have been possible otherwise considering the social stigma given by the parent/s deeds. Family ties are kept up and these children visit their parents in jail with permission periodically and parent on parole also visits the children. The house manages the show with donations from parishioners and public and is in need of financial support for their daily expenses. The Sisters were able to add 2 rooms on the first floor of their building now and
so plan to take in another 8 children in next academic year. While taking to the very elderly Rev Sr Sabina, the In charge of the girls, she mentioned that beginning of every school year is particularly one of tension for them to arrange amount needed for uniforms, shoes, books, school fees etc and sought our prayers for God to arrange this through well wishers.

Project 3: Help for part fees for hardware training

Master Shivraj who was abandoned by his parents about 15/16 years back when he was about 2 ½ years old grew up at Ashraya, a home for children at RT Nagar and after SSLC has joined hardware training course. We supported with a payment of Rs 10,000/- on 4.9.2011 as part of the training fee and has completed the course and was given some hands on experience at a hardware office for a month after which he had to leave to prepare for his BA correspondence exam.

He had to give up the job he had and is now living on the pension for disabled. His wife is a house wife and they have 3 children in all.

Divyashree at her very young age had a cardiac problem and has already undergone 2 cardiac surgeries for the same at Sri Sathya Sai Hospital, Whitefield where it is done free of cost and goes for an annual check up. She is a bright student and in Std 4 now. However she developed vision problem and was under treatment at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore for the same under MRD No 234553. They had prescribed spectacles and eye drops of Travatan. Each vial costs Rs 600/- and lasts for a month. She has to take this and then go for check up after 3 months.

We provided spectacles on 9th Aug 2011 and through a well wisher had a second opinion taken on 30th Aug 2011 from Nethradhama Eye Hospital, Jayanagar and diagnosis is the same. The father is blind and unemployed and has 2 other school going children too. Considering their hardship, a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000/- to the family was made which has been raised to Rs 3,000/- per month from Nov 2011 thanks to a well wisher of Shraddha Foundation

Project 4A: Sewing Machine

We were able to give Rs 6000/- to Sri Ashwathnarayan who has on 17th Feb 2012 purchased a Usha Sewing Machine with motor and we hope his wife would be able to slowly get tailoring orders and thus earn a livelihood to look after

Project 6: Deepavali Lights

Liitle children enjoy festivities and for Deepavali 2011 we have given Deepavali Gifts of crackers (flower pots and sparklers) for children of Ashraya , RT Nagar and Shalom Grace Children Home, off Hennur Road and joined the kids at Shalom on Deepavali night. It was such a joy to watch tiny tots of Shalom holding the sparklers and venturing to light flower pots.

Project 7: Help to Prerana Resource Centre home for blind/differentially abled and destitute women

Prerana Resource Centre at Gorguntepalya, Bangalore runs a free home for about 110 blind/Disabled/Downtrodden destitute women providing training in manufacturing Masala Powder, Paper bags, Garlands, Basket Making, suitable placements in nearby factories etc. They have also organized a few marriages since 1994.

A visit to their Home in Nov 2011 was touching. The place is kept spic and span including the kitchen. During interaction it was understood that 2 Washing Machines are needed as the existing two have developed trouble and with over 100 inmates, one can imagine the need. Due to water shortage they were looking for 2 Semi automatic washing machine with drier as this consumes less water. We were able to get them one semi automatic washing machine which has been handed over on 22nd Dec 2011 thanks to contributions received from well wishers of Shraddha Foundation.
